PISHTI BAHANE

How to play Pişti

Pişti (pronounced "push-tee") is a classic Turkish card-collecting game for 2 players using a standard 52-card deck. Matches are played as a series of hands; the player who scores more points wins the hand.

The basics

How to collect cards

When you play a card that matches the rank of the top card on the centre pile, you collect the entire pile. Put the collected cards face-down in your own pile.

Example: The top of the centre pile is a 7♣. You play a 7♥ → you collect everything on the pile.

If your card does not match, it simply goes on top of the pile and play passes to your opponent.

Jacks are wild

A Jack (J) collects the entire pile regardless of what is on top — except when the top card is also a Jack.

Jack on Jack = Double Pişti. If you play a Jack onto a pile whose only card is a Jack, that is a Double Pişti worth 20 points.

Pişti!

A Pişti (pish-tee) is a special capture worth 10 bonus points. It happens when the pile has exactly one card and your card matches it (or you play a Jack onto it). The captured card is kept face-down so your opponent knows you scored a Pişti without seeing which card triggered it.

Re-dealing

Once both players have played all 4 cards in their hand, the dealer deals 4 more cards each. This continues until the full 52-card deck is exhausted (13 rounds of dealing). The 4 opening face-up cards do not count as a Pişti opportunity even if only one remains uncollected.

End of hand — clearing the table

When all cards have been played, whoever collected last takes any remaining cards on the pile (but this does not count as a Pişti). Then scores are tallied.

Scoring

Points come from two sources: special cards and Pişti bonuses.

The total of fixed card points is 16. Pişti bonuses are unlimited, so a great hand can easily score 30, 40, or more.

Winning

The player with the higher score wins the hand. The match score increments by 1 for each hand won. A draw hand scores no points for either player.
